As a Registered Crisis Intervention Service and Residential Children's Home provider in Cumbria, Northumberland and South Scotland, we provide both short term placements of up to 17 weeks providing a staff ratio of 2:1 through to full residential care for children with EBD.  This role is specifically to work within a dual bedded service either on a 2:1 or a 1:1 basis.  

Day to Day:

  • Working alongside staff teams, provide a high standard of care for the Young People in your charge.
  • To encourage the Young People to participate in outdoor activities and get involved in the planning of and engagement in outdoor activities.  
  • To be alert to signs of distress or abuse to ensure Young People are monitored and protected
  • To assist in the motivation of Young People to take an active part in decision making and be involved in the design and delivery of the service they receive.
  • To ensure appropriate and comprehensive record keeping and administration responsibilities are met, including care plans, day sheets, etc.
  • To ensure high standards of safe working practices at all times.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must have a SVQ 3 Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent and a HNC in Social Care or equivalent.  
  • Must have experience of working within a Residential Children's home setting.   
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Ability to work shifts including weekends and evenings and sleep ins
  • Knowledge of the National Care Standards
  • To work as part of a team and use own initiative when required
  • Knowledge of appropriate child centred models includuing "Getting It Right for Every Child" and "Safe, Healthy, Active, Nurtured, Achieving, Respected, Included(SHANARRI)".

Location

The role will be based in South Lanarkshire, however due to the structure of our shift patterns and continued expansion we believe this role is accessible to applicants from across a wider area. Please contact us for further information.
