Residential Support Worker - Kirkby Stephen

As a Registered Crisis Intervention Service and Residential Children’s Home provider in Cumbria, Northumberland and Scotland, we provide both short term placements of up to 17 weeks providing a staff ratio of 2:1 through to full residential care for children with EBD.

Due to growth and expansion plans we are currently looking to recruit a number of Senior Residential Support Workers and Residential Support Workers within a new 5 bedded service in Kirkby Stephen.

We will be holding an assessment centre in June 2018

Day to Day:

  • Working alongside staff teams, provide a high standard of care for the Young People in your charge.
  • To encourage the Young People to participate in outdoor activities.
  • To be alert to signs of distress or abuse to ensure Young People are monitored and protected
  • To assist in the motivation of Young People to take an active part in decision making and be involved in the design and delivery of the service they receive.
  • To ensure record keeping and administration responsibilities of the team are met, including care plans, day sheets, etc.
  • To ensure high standards of safe working practices at all times.

Requirements:

  • Diploma Level 3 qualified in Children and Young People’s workforce (although support to achieve this qualification can be provided)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Ability to work shifts including weekends and evening and sleep ins
  • Applicants must be age 21 or above
  • Knowledge of the National Care Standards
  • To work as part of a team and use own initiative when required
  • Ability and willingness to participate in outdoor active programmes

The role will be based at one of our registered services in Kirkby Stephen or from one of our outreach facilities in the area, however due to the structure of our shift patterns and continued expansion, we believe this role is accessible to applicants from across a wider geographical area.
